In an interview to an English Daily, Kejriwal said that maybe his quitting as the CM of Delhi was “ill-timed” and did not go down well with the common man. He accepted that the mistake was in assuming that the people would 'celebrate' the decision by AAP 'to quit on principle' and believing that people at large would understand on their own as to what their reasons were. • Not a single vote was cast in two polling booths in Sultanpuria village as 1,900 voters boycotted elections over non-fulfillment of their long-pending demand.

Thirty-five per cent of the 64,41,634 voters exercised their franchise till noon Monday in five Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam where four persons clashed with CRPF personnel demanding that they be allowed to cast their vote first in Kaliabor constituency. Election office sources said 27 per cent voting was registered in Tezpur, 45 per cent in Jorhat, 32 per cent in Lakhimpur, 38 per cent in Dibrugarh and 30 per cent in Koliabor during the first phase of elections in the state.

The DMK, which will take on the ruling AIADMK in 34 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and the lone Puducherry seat, has 27 new faces in the list of candidates for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The list was released by party president M. Karunanidhi on Monday.

The youngest among them is 26-year-old woman H. Pavitra Valli, an MBA holder, who will contest from Erode. Another woman candidate is S. Umarani for the Salem constituency. The oldest contestant is the former Minister, Pon. Muthuramalingam, for Theni.
