RJD releases first list of 25 candidates for Lok Sabha poll
rjdlogoRashtriya Janata Dal on Thursday declared the first list of 25 candidates for upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha election.The name of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi and his daughter Misa Bharti was mentioned in the list who will contest the general election from Patliputra in Bihar.

Govt hopes to pass food bill in Lok Sabha today
food billKeen to pass Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's pet welfare legislation, the Food Security Bill, but concerned over the large number of amendments (over 260) moved by the opposition parties, the government has indicated it would accommodate some of them.The government wants to pass the bill in the Lok Sabha on August 20, the 69th birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
To mark the occasion, Sonia Gandhi will launch the scheme in Delhi while Congress-ruled Haryana and Assam are also expected to start the right to food plan Tuesday.

Serpentine queues in front of the numerous community kitchens that constitute one of the cornerstones of the Bill would be an eyesore harking back to the Dickensian era. Children, both school-going and others, pregnant mothers, the destitute and others would line up both at lunch and dinner time with begging bowls in their hands, as it were.
